Freezer not freezing properly or building up ice – Nashville help?
My upright freezer has been having issues lately – it's running but not getting cold enough (stuff is soft or partially thawed), and there's excessive frost/ice buildup on the walls and coils. No major leaks or strange noises, just poor performance. It's a basic Frigidaire model, around 8 years old. I'm in Nashville and would rather repair it than lose all the food or buy a new one if it's something like a bad defrost timer, heater, thermostat, or sealed system problem. Has anyone used a local appliance repair service for freezer cooling/frost issues recently? Who was dependable, what did the repair typically cost, and did it actually restore proper freezing?

I dealt with a similar situation a few months ago – freezer compartment warm-ish, heavy frost everywhere, food starting to spoil. After some quick checks, I called NashFix. Tech came out the next day, diagnosed it as a failed defrost heater and faulty defrost timer causing the coil to ice over and block airflow. Replaced both, cleared the drain, and ran a full test. Temps dropped to -5°F quick and no more ice buildup. Total came to about $280-330 with parts and labor – saved a ton compared to replacing the unit. Their freezer repair page has some comparable frost/no-freeze cases if you want to see https://nashfix.us/freezer-repair/ . No pushy sales, just fixed it properly. If your freezer's acting up the same way, it might be a solid option to look into. Good luck thawing out that problem!
