does anyone understand exactly how united figures actual flight miles? For example, if i fly from PDX to IAH to FLL, how many actual miles do I accrue? It appears that United does not take legs into consideration. Does anyone have an idea?

I reached my million miles last week (after flying for years with united and many other airlines...) nobody even mention anything to me that I had reached the 1Million mile, instead, the flight had to stop on the tarmac for an hour due to a broken jet bridge... classic. In reality, I think they waited one hour to honor one million miles flown :)

Hi Drew, I am looking for the smartest way to combine united miles to book the following:MUC, ZRH or FRA to LIH around 3rd Oct ( 2 days before and after)then we have a cruise to Sidney and we are looking to fly back from either New Zealand or Australia beginning January using the island hopper United 155 ideally with exciting stopover/layovers to get passport stamps etc to arrive in MCO/Tampa around the 17th January.Any tricks or suggesting how to best combine with as little miles as possible?
